From Momentum March to Minimalist March: Choosing What Actually Works for Me
Every year around this time I see people talking about Momentum March — the idea of using March to build energy, chase goals, and push forward with new habits.
And honestly? I love the concept.
The idea of building momentum toward the life you want is inspiring. It encourages discipline, progress, and growth. But this year I had to pause and be honest with myself.
Momentum March sounded great in theory… but it didn’t actually feel like what I needed.
What I needed was something quieter.
Something simpler.
Something that felt a little more like breathing out than pushing forward.
So instead of Momentum March, I’m choosing Minimalist March.
When Momentum Isn’t What You Need
Momentum is powerful. It’s the force that helps us start businesses, build routines, and accomplish big goals.
But sometimes life doesn’t need more momentum. Sometimes it needs less pressure.
Lately I’ve been feeling the weight of doing too much — too many ideas, too many tasks, too many expectations. Even things I enjoy can start to feel overwhelming when everything becomes another thing to keep up with.
And when that happens, the answer isn’t always to push harder.
Sometimes the answer is to slow down and simplify.
Why Minimalist March Feels Like a Better Fit
Minimalist March focuses on something different.
Instead of asking, “How can I do more?” it asks, “What can I let go of?”
It’s about creating space instead of filling it.
That might mean:
- Letting go of physical clutter
- Simplifying routines
- Reducing commitments
- Quieting mental noise
- Choosing fewer priorities
For me, this approach feels more aligned with where I am right now.
Not every season of life is about acceleration. Some seasons are about clearing space so the right things can grow.
The Power of Honest Alignment
One of the most freeing things we can do is admit when something popular or productive simply isn’t the right fit for us.
Momentum March is great for people who feel ready to build, launch, and chase big goals.
But if you’re feeling overwhelmed, burned out, or stretched thin, pushing harder might not be the most supportive thing you can do for yourself.
Choosing Minimalist March doesn’t mean giving up on growth.
It just means choosing intentional growth instead of constant motion.
What Minimalist March Will Look Like Here
For the rest of March, I’ll be focusing on simple reflection and intentional living.
That includes:
- Journaling prompts about simplicity
- Small decluttering actions
- Reflecting on priorities and values
- Creating more mental and physical space
Nothing extreme. Nothing rigid.
Just small, thoughtful steps toward a calmer and more intentional life.
If Momentum March Doesn’t Fit You Either
If you’ve been feeling like you should be pushing forward but something inside you is asking for quiet instead, you’re not alone.
There’s nothing wrong with choosing a slower pace.
Sometimes the most powerful change we can make isn’t adding more — it’s removing what we no longer need.
And that’s exactly what Minimalist March is about.
